Moving onto more formal occasions, we have these two dresses that are ready for both work and party. The wide sleeves dress from Marc by Marc Jacobs looks soo cute and you can never go wrong with the classic Diane von Furstenburg wrap dress!
Then there are these two hot dresses from Paul & Joe and Anthropologie. I love how there are subtle designs on both to make it look more interesting.

Is anyone else in the process of growing out bangs and finding that bit of hair that is forever falling into your eyes incredibly annoying and unattractive? Well, I've been having problems with it recently, and here is what I've come up with to solve it- hair accessories. They're cute and adds a little something to your usual hair style.
There are the classic bobby pins, like these two Accessorize. These simple yet elegant designs can go with just about any outfit!
Then there are these larger clips from Accesorize and Claires respectively. And remember, they don't always have to be on the side either. Try twisting the bangs on top and clipping it down, with these pretty clips, for a more voluminous look.
For something a little more interesting, there are these skull pins from Intuition and funky button pins from Urban Outfitters.
Headbands is yet another fabulous way to keep the bangs off your eyes. I especially love these multiple skinny headbanks from Urban Outfitters and Cara.
And of course, there are these scarf-like headbands that are so trendy this season also from Intuition. The circular patterned one on the right is fun and quirky, but I like the simple silk bands with its very elegant and sophisticated colors best!
How do you keep your bangs out?
I'm in shock. I've been summing up the best FW06 collections in my head in the past few days and so far, my list consists of Balenciaga, Rochas and others yet to be decided. Rochas has one of THE top fashion designers, Olivier Theyskens as its creative director and even Anna Wintour loves him. Which is why yesterday's news came as a shock: (from telegraph.co.uk)
Proctor & Gamble, which owns Parisian fashion label, announced the closure of the house of Rochas. A statement from Parfums Rochas said: "After four years of support, Parfums Rochas has decided to cease further investment in the fashion house as it does not represent a core business for the company. Rochas fashion is a beautiful brand. However, we must make tough choices on where to focus our resources.”

“It is really very unfortunate,” said Anna Wintour. “It seems Proctor & Gamble was not the right company to capitalise on Theyskens’ design strengths and was not willing to go the extra distance to support him. If he’d been with LVMH or Gucci, it would have been a different story.
“He (Theyskens) is exceptionally talented and so brilliant at understanding that fashion success is not just beautiful ballgowns. He can do well-crafted, well-made suits and clothes that women really want to wear.”
I absolutely loved the Rochas FW06 collection (above), especially the gorgeous dresses at the end. The white dress is so angelic in an elegant way, and the black dress appears to be swirling around the model. The perfect word to describe this collection: divine.
The FW06 collection will make it to the stores as scheduled, but after that, it's goodbye.
The big question is of course, where will the CFDA 2006 International Award winner go. With Anna Wintour as his big supporter and three succcessful years of reviving Rochas under his belt, he's certainly got an excellent resume. Let's hope we see his designs again soon.

Its the graduation time of the year again! I used to think that the only fashionable thing one needs for graduation is a fabulous pair of shoes-after all, isn't that the only thing one can see with the long black graduation gown?
Boy was I wrong. During dinner with some graduating friends the topicof what to wear on graduation came up. The first question was, pants or dress? Since I've never been to a graduation, I don't have any first hand experience on what is the norm. But while wearing pants underneath may look good (or so I heard), college graduation IS one of the most important events of one's life,and one should celebrate it with a fabulous dress. Besides, at some point one will probably take the gown off and take pictures in your dress!
That settled, we moved onto what kind of dress one should wear. The ceremony is in the day time, so you probably don't want to wear something that is shiny and too evening. On the other hand, you don't want to be wearing a dress so casual that you might as well be strolling in the mall. Nor do you want to be too revealing, this IS graduation. The trick is to find a balance between casual and formal. And since the gown is black already, you don't want to wear anything black either. Here are a few of our ideas:
My first instinct was too go for a pretty white eyelet dress. Something like this dress from ABS. Mostly this is because I wore a white eyelet ABS dress to my high school graduation and hence I shall forever link white eyelet dresses with graduation. But also becausse the style is pretty, classic, formal yet casual and summery- perfect for graduation. However, this might be a little too girly, innocent looking and classic for some. So moving along....
. . there is this simple printed nuetral colored summer dress from Burberry. It fits the occasion and is more sophisticated and elegant. Definitely a winner.
And speaking of not boring, the dress Rory wore to Logan's graduation comes to mind. The GORGEOUS Marc by Marc Jacob's dresses this season (especially the vibrant silk ones-like the one above) are perfect. They are vibrant, bold, exciting and totally unforgettable- just what graduation should be! Plus its very photogenic against the green grass background!
After finding the perfect dress, the next step is finding the fabulous pair of shoes to go with it. I've heard that some people actually wore flip flops to graduation at my friend's school in Canada, but if you're reading this blog, wearing flip flops to graduation shouldn't even BE an option. You could go with a smashing pair of heels, like these ones from Dior. But if your school is anything like mine, then you're going to be walking on grass. I haven't personally tried it, but heels sinking into the mud and getting dirty does not sound enticing. So you can either brave this or. . . . you could try flats. Something pretty like these ones from Marc by Marc Jacobs and Miu Miu wouldn't be too bad. Makes it more casual. But this IS graduation and you don't really want to be that casual. Plus, some height would be nice. Luckily for us, wedges are super trendy this season and they are everywhere, because they are PERFECT for graduation. They look as smashingly fabulous as heels AND it won't sink into the grass!!! I especially LOVE these two from Miu Miu and Christian Louboutin. They're both made of patent leather (so won't get dirty so easily) and the styles are both very classic and elegant. Perfect for both formal or casual occasions. Plus they are the just the right height. Just tall enough to give height but not so tall that it'll be the devil to walk in. Or if you can take it, there are these two higher more strappy wedges from Kate Spade and Miu Miu. I don't reckon the thin straps would be too comfortable, but your feet will look GORGEOUS! Darn, I wish I was graduating too!
Admittedly, the Grammys have never exactly been the most fashionable and glam event of the year, but this year I must say, I'm impressed. Especially when compared to last year. Most of the stars played it safe with classic one piece dresses-which was really quite boring, but a few did make an effort to be creative and the result was stunning.
For all those pregnant celebs out there, it is definitely a good thing that the empire waist has been so popular recently, because they are so completely flattering on pregnant women. They barely look like they're pregnant. This is very well demonstrated by Gwen here. I'm not that much a fan of this leopard printed dress, but it is very Gwen.
Happy new year people! Barneys Girl and I have a wonderful and restful week away from blogging and did what we said we will: I went to Taiwan with family, and Barneys Girl got sick and spent the days relaxing. But alas, I can't believe the holidays are coming to an end. Barneys Girl is on the plane (with many fellow students from U of C and NW I hear) back to Chicago right now. And I'm in a panic to get all those 'must-dos' like getting a haircut and facial done before flying back to London this Friday. Anyways......
What a wonderful start to s new season of campaigns! To start off with, Marc Jacobs finally got rid of Uma Thurman (read: yuck yuck yuck to the last few years of boring, celeb Vuitton ads,) and replaced her with ubermodel Gisele (an actual working model!) It was kind of hard to believe at first, and I didn't actually believe the rumours until Gisele actually went to Hong Kong to open the Vuitton flagship store and I saw the new SS06 ads.
"I certainly feel Gisele is iconic and recognised all over the world as Gisele. Also, the clothes were hot and sexy and colourful, and we thought she would exaggerate the strength and the heat of the collection." -Marc Jacobs
From what I've been hearing on forums, people's opinions have been sort of mixed, although to be honest, mostly negative: Some complained about the colors and how it's a bit too 'neon'; Some complained that the style of these Gisele ads are just too similar to the Uma ads; Others blamed the Vuitton SS06 collection was just ugly to begin with, so even Gisele could not make it look beautiful.
Frankly, I'm still too happy it's a non-celeb ad to care how well-designed the ads are. I do think Gisele is the right model to give off that bright and strong vibe Vuitton is giving off this season though. And let's face it, nine out of ten of Vuitton bags become hits with the customers anyways. Here's a little preview to the upcoming campaign: yellow suede for February, perforated monogram for March, printed silk scarf bags for April, denim ones for May and a multicolored fringed number for June. Something for all Vuitton fans to look foward to!
It's awards season! Time for all the celebs to clean up and practice their poses. This year's Golden Globes was a relative fashion success. There were gorgeous dresses everywhere, and not too many ugly ones, (see tomorrow for the ugly ones). Since there are just waaay too many celebs and dresses, I'm just going to talk about the ones I really loved and the celebs who I bother noticing.
Reese Witherspoon -Wow. I'm personally a black and white person, but I absolutely LOVE this canary yellow Nina Ricci dress on Reese. Amazing. And those shoes! The dress and shoes are so bright without the tackiness, and fresh. The only weird thing is that Reese seems to have lost a bit too much weight -her face is looking oddly thin.
Ellen Pompeo -I think this is one of the best red carpet looks I've seen on Ellen so far. She looked gorgeous. I love that if you look at the front of her Versace dress, it looks like a simple, elegant dress, and at the side, it's this season's fashion-foward futuristic-themed design.
Ali Larter (left) and Hayden Panettiere (right) -Both Heroes stars wore white gowns. Ali simply looked stunning and Hayden looked so sweet. It's not very often new-comers get their red-carpet outfits right the first-time round.
Sandra Oh -Her fashion choices are usually a bit iffy, but this dress was great -it's simple, sleek and trendy. Plus, her eye-makeup matches perfectly. 
Kate Walsh -Not the most exciting or fashion-foward dress, but still really pretty and classic.
Eva Longoria -As usual. I mean, when is she ever not on the 'pretties' lists? And look at those lashes -L'oreal must be so proud.
Evangeline Lilly - Gorgeous as usual. This dress is really pretty too. Looks a bit like a piece of modern art made of light chiffon.
America Ferrera -Great dress on her. To be honest, I was a bit surprised she won Best Actress (Drama). It's not that she's not a good actress, but we've only seen 12 episodes of Ugly Betty and they weren't particularly dramatic.
Drew Barrymore -The light pink gown by Galliano is so soft and pretty. It's not the most stunning dress there, but it suits Drew very much.
Sienna Miller -Highly controversial. Personally, I think that dress really suits her and she looks really pretty. It might have looked better if she she had her hair down in loose waves, but her hairstyle suited her dress.
My favourite accessories:
1. Those diamond earrings look so ordinary, but they complimented Ellen Pompeo's dress and whole look so perfectly. 2. Sienna Miller's clutch. 3. Reese Witherspoon's red shoes -seriously gorgeous.
And finally, just because Hugh Laurie is so brilliant at being House.
